Rent increases can be legally implemented for various reasons. A landlord must inform tenants at least two months before the increased rent is enforced. If you think you rent has been raised without a valid reason, or the increase is greater than the percentage that is legally permitted, you can appeal to us at the Housing Helpdesk. The Housing Helpdesk will then make an objection to your landlord. The landlord himself then has to deal with the objection through the Rental Tribunal. In 2015 your rent increase may be a maximum of 2,5%. (if you earned €34.229 or less in 2014)
